🎨What Inspired the Name?

I randomly heard the name Scarlet a long time ago and just really liked the sound of it. So when I made this account back in 2011, I originally just called it Scarlet1449.

Why 1449? Well, 4 is one of my lucky numbers, and for some reason, 1449 just popped into my head and stuck. I liked the way it looked—and let’s be honest, that’s 80% of branding anyway.

Fun fact: This channel actually started off as a place to upload Minecraft videos (back in beta!) and tracklists of NOW! That’s What I Call Music albums. Part of me wishes I’d kept them!

🎨When Did the Artistic Spark Start?

Ever since I was a kid, I loved anything artsy—painting, Play-Doh, doodling endlessly in Microsoft Paint around age 8. I was that kid who got excited for art class.

I took Art for my GCSEs and in college, and that’s when I started collecting my first adult colouring books—especially by Johanna Basford.

But during college, I began to dislike art because I couldn’t fully express myself. After passing the course, I took a long break until 2022, when my husband suggested revamping the channel as an art channel to rekindle that love.

Fun fact: I’ve been a huge fan of LEGO since I was a kid & I bought my first ever modular building set in 2015.

🎮Origins of the Gaming Addiction

Myself:
I played my dad’s copy of Grand Prix 2 (1996) in 2000, and in 2004, I got my own games: School Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3.

My first console game was Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City (Wii, 2008). By 2010, I had a Steam account and was deep into Minecraft (during alpha!).

Fun fact: First game I bought with my own money was Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS, 2013).

Hubby:
Grew up on consoles—played Atari with his brothers. First solo game? Duke Nukem 3D on PlayStation in 2001 (definitely too young!).

First game that was actually his? Halo on Xbox (2003).

Fun fact: First games he bought with his own money were Devil May Cry 4 and Dark Sector (Xbox 360, 2008).

Together:
We met in 2016 and bonded over games, art, and horror movies.

We spent our evenings taking turns on the PC (multiplayer was limited) colouring & watching spooky films on the sofa.

First game we played together: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (2017).

Biggest shared obsession?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons during the 2020 lockdown. It helped us stay sane! He had never played Animal Crossing before, and I was always going to buy it regardless 😄
